Look at my Pumpkin

I am so excited about growing a pumpkin this year, a New England Sugar Pie Pumpkin. It has many flowers and a few small pumpkins, but a couple of them have died, probably too humid here. Of course it decided to grow in the opposite direction of what I had planned, I had cleared a space to the right and it grew towards the rose bushes instead. They have pumpkins here but not what an American would consider as one, no orange flesh. Come and visit this winter if you want homemade pumpkin pie.

I bet that will be the best pumpkin in Greece. I guess you figured you'd have to grow your own pumpkin to make an American pumpkin pie. Good luck..it still needs to grow a bit. It might do better if it doesn't sit on the ground. Love, Ma

It's a shame they don't sell Libby's there? I have never made a pie from a real pumpkin. The canned kind is delicious, especially when you use sweetened condensed milk instead of canned milk..

Hopefully there will be plenty of desserts to choose from here when you come...

My garden is finally growing too. We are having high 80's weather and that is really helping. Watch for my garden photos coming soon.

PS are having a big crop of cherries. Yum!!

The grasshoppers were the only benefactors of my gardening. My chickens were my only method of revenge and they ate what little bit the grasshoppers didn't eat. Some of my friends had better luck so I have had a few fresh veggies.
